Amandla Baraka is a self-taught Director and Photographer raised in Montclair, NJ with strong roots in Newark, New Jersey. Amandla established herself as a photographer through fashion which eventually transformed into fashion filmmaking. She spent a year directing short video content for Pyer Moss before she was hired to direct the “Focus Breathe-In” Global Adidas campaign.

Shortly thereafter Amandla was hired to direct two music videos for RCA signed artist, Wesson Desir, Capitol Records signed artist, Masego, and indie hip hop artist, Ivy Sole. In addition, she has created recent spots for Target, Facebook and Amex. Her most recent directing work with Masego and Don Toliver’s “Mystery Lady” video currently has over 5 million views. Now based in Brooklyn, NY — Amandla’s video work is an homage to empathy, humanity, and curiosity. She approaches each project using empathy as a means to empowerment.
