Brit Phelan is a German-American director and photographer based in New York and Los Angeles. Her work spans commercials, short films, music videos, and original content across all platforms. Brit’s work explores the universal human need for community, an exploration born from her own journey, as a queer kid, to find belonging. It is this relentless curiosity that fuels her filmmaking, creating films where intimacy and emotion are in plain view, where each moment feels completely natural and you feel as though you know the people on screen.
Working her way up through the industry Brit is a tireless student of the craft, taking risks and gaining skills that have become intrinsic to her unconventional style. It is not uncommon to find multiple cameras in hand and swinging from her neck, always at the ready to capture the most fluid moment.
Brit’s background in editing and cinematography continues to influence her unique approach to pacing, framing, and dynamic visuals. A creative powerhouse, Brit’s work is innovative, engaging and fiercely human. It is through this lens that Brit has partnered with brands such as White Claw, Adidas, Abercrombie, Twitter, and Puma, amongst others.
