Christina Xing

Christina Xing is a 23-year-old Chinese-American LGBTQ+ filmmaker, specializing in commercials, branded content, and music videos. Diversity and inclusivity are a through-line in her work, as seen in spots and long-form branded content for Vans, Tinder, Budweiser, Levi’s, and Snapchat, among many others. Xing is known for her distinctive style, which infuses saturated youthful visions of surreal dreamscapes with nostalgic memories that put the viewer right in the center of the action.

Most recently, she helmed a new spot for The Vaseline® Healing Project, an aid effort in partnership with Direct Relief to provide dermatological care to people affected by poverty or emergencies around the world. Conceived by Ogilvy and produced by Durable Goods, “Vivid” touches on the symbolism of Vaseline® lip therapy as a product of emotional empowerment. Xing captured the campaign message with a series of up-close shots of 15 people sharing the joy of feeling respected, welcomed, treated equally, and comfortable with their identity.

Xing broke out in the music video world with “Wish You Were Gay” by Claud, which led to representation with Las Bandas Be Brave, where she has since worked with major music label artists, such as Hayley Williams, Courtney Barnett, Tessa Violet, K.Flay, and SHAED.
