Daisy Zhou is a cinematographer and director based in Brooklyn. Growing up between Shanghai and Pennsylvania, the one constant in her life was making art and grappling with the eclectic worlds she was experiencing.
Since graduating, she has focused her career on cinematography in the commercial and fashion spaces. Her 2017 work with Nike's Be True campaign was only the start of her relationship with films around dance, gender, sexuality, and identity. Her work for Nike's Be True campaign has been featured as the #1 spot on AdForum's Best Ads of The Week Worldwide, Ad Age's Ad of The Week, and Business of Fashion's #2 Top Fashion Films of The Season, as well as countless other publications such as Times, Nylon, Essence, Adland, and Mic.
In 2018, she was listed in AdWeek's Top 100 Creatives as one of the Top 15 Film and TV Directors raising the standard for storytelling. She was the only director in the 2018 Cannes Young Director Award showcase to have two films shortlisted: Janelle Monáe on Afrofuturism with Spotify, and Nike's Be True campaign with Leiomy Maldonado.
In 2019, she finished work as a 2nd unit DOP for the Lionsgate narrative feature "Antebellum" starring Janelle Monae. Since then, she has shot campaigns for Gillette, Comfort, Aston Martin, Renault, Citroën, Ford, and Apple.
In 2020, Daisy signed with Sibling Rivalry as Director/DP.
