Constantly curious, Dana is a director who excels at crafting authentic and engaging character driven stories for documentary and commercial clients. She believes that visual storytelling can break down barriers and build bridges whether they are across oceans or between backyards. Her skills at researching stories, developing relationships and creating impactful visuals was honed during years as a photojournalist tackling significant social issues for publications like National Geographic Magazine. Her award-winning Father’s Day film for Budweiser utilizes all of her assets as a filmmaker and is sure to make you cry. Recent clients include Google, Facebook, UPS, Nintendo, Best Buy & Conservation International.
Dana takes pride in using her talent as both a shooter and director to work on media campaigns pressing for policy changes and giving a voice to those whose lives are often unnoticed or misrepresented. Her work for Conservation International informed the creation of The Conservation Province in West Papua, Indonesia. Her short film “Our Dreams Won’t Wait” for Google documented the lives of four graduating high school seniors in 2020, when the world shut down and awareness of racial injustice surged.
She has also told the stories of women and immigration in rural Mexico, a community rising from the ashes in Flint, Michigan, and co-founded and directed an independent film series featuring youth and minorities in the national parks. These works have received wide distribution and won multiple awards. She is currently developing a feature documentary on midwives.
Her work is intimate, layered and reveals inner lives creating a relationship between the film and the viewer. On set, Dana seeks to support the work of females and minorities working in the industry and one thing is for certain: there will always be a dance party.
