An award winning independent creative, Fred Bumaye has brought his unique brand of storytelling to a variety of networks including BET, Bravo, The CW, Fuse, HBO, NBCUniversal, OWN, Oxygen & Travel Channel. In addition to promotional campaigns, he’s also helmed commercials and co-branded content for brands such as Microsoft, Paramount, Sprite & Toyota, as well as PSAs for non-profits like the Goodwill.
A versatile filmmaker, Fred has both a flair for the dramatic and an uncanny sense of comedic timing. Armed with this multifaceted creative aesthetic, he’s able to craft thirty seconds into cinematic experiences. Fred’s efforts have not only left an impression on viewers, but his peers in the marketing community as well.
After graduating from Howard University, Fred pursued his passion for film, inspired by its ability to both influence culture and provide escapism for audiences by creating worlds. He started out interning and PA-ing, then moved on to composing and editing TV promos & shows. Later, while working as a writer/producer for the creative services and brand creative departments at networks, he got his big break when one of the Creative Directors finally let him direct one of the campaigns he had written. The campaign went on to win a PromaxBDA Award.
He has since garnered several more PromaxBDA wins, and his
ever-evolving career only continues to expand. His work lensing short form
narratives has been recognized by several film festivals and he’s currently
developing his first feature-length project.
