Gale Maimane is a multifaceted young Film Director and Photographer residing in Johannesburg, South Africa.

A 2015 Design Indaba’s Emerging Creative Alumni represented by Darling TV.

She joined Darling, starting as a Researcher and Director’s Assistant. Her attentive eye and wit lead to Gale becoming a Darling Director. Gale’s raw perspective to directing and stills comes through in her offbeat and in-the-moment approach to documenting unforgettable moments that hold incredible depth; either pushing you to stare longer or laugh harder. 

 Most recently, Gale’s Fashion film (for NAOSERATI x Zoe Modiga) was featured at Bokeh Fashion Film Festival (2018); ON SIGHT - a video exhibition held by Michealis Galley/UCT  (2020); 

“As Told By Us” (2020) - A visual anthology on the multiplicity of Black stories in New York City by For Africans By Africans and Afriquette. 

A burgeoning polymath Gale has shot editorial photography for fashion designer NAOSERATI and Editorial contributions to Bubblegum Club. Furthermore her work has been featured in various South African publications like The Lake Magazine;  ELLE Magazine; The Mail & Guardian; The Sunday Time. 

 Gale is also a Global Ambassador for GIRLS IN FILM a grassroots organisation that wants to help marginalised people (POC; femme and queer people) make it in the film industry. As well as a member of The Loeries Youth Committee (2021-).
