Jamie Babbit has directed and produced multiple award-winning television shows as well as several features. The Independent listed her debut film, But I’m a Cheerleader, as one of the top twenty best romantic comedies of all time.
Babbit's credits include the soon to be released A League Of Their Own (Amazon), Only Murders In The Building (Hulu) starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon), Russian Doll (Netflix), and Silicon Valley (HBO) for which she received an Emmy nomination for Best Comedy Directing. Her ability to generate hilarious and authentic chemistry consistently surfaces as she shepherds story and cast.
She began her career as Martin Scorsese's intern and went on to work with David Fincher. She then focused on her own projects, starting with her short “Stuck”, which won a jury prize at Sundance. But I’m a Cheerleader immediately followed, premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival announcing her fresh comedic voice. The Itty Bitty Titty Committee, her second feature, won The Grand Jury prize at the SXSW film festival.
Babbit crossed into commercials, with her first being a Super Bowl spot for Olay featuring Busy Philipps, Lilly Singh, Taraji P. Henson and Katie Couric. For her Audible campaign, Babbit only needed 45 seconds to tell a full story about family, identity, and acceptance worthy of a feature film.
Babbit continues to elevate women and minorities in her work and workplace. Her goal is to always be directing, and she appreciates every opportunity.
Babbit graduated from Columbia University where she was a Centennial Scholar in foreign studies, and she grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
