Mel Jones is a storyteller.  She attended the American Film Institute (AFI) on the highly coveted Hewlett Packard Scholarship. After earning her MFA in Producing, she began working closely with independent Producer Stephanie Allain. She produced over 6 films including Dear White People that have played Sundance SXSW Toronto AFI and Tribeca.  Mel transitioned into directing as Co-Creator and Director of LEIMERT PARK, which was a selection in the Sundance Film Festivals Indie Episodic Program. Lemiert Park premieres this March on BET +. She also directed Curves a pilot for Issa Rae’s Color Creative . She is currently in development on her first feature film US AGAIN and expects to shoot this fall.
