Sheldon Candis, a Baltimore native, is a writer-director and graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Candis has been directing since 2002. He has written, directed, and produced feature film, full length and short form documentary, and episodic television series across entertainment mediums. His directorial debut feature film LUV premiered in dramatic competition at the Sundance Film Festival with a feature documentary BALTIMORE BOYS for the prestigious ESPN Films banner.
Candis calls his audiences to take action on current issues. He teamed up with Grammy nominated artist J. Cole for the short film Crooked Smile, which challenges America’s current war on drugs. He also directed Who Will Survive America, a short documentary that chronicles America’s “love affair” with gun ownership.
Sheldon Candis’ success as a feature filmmaker and documentarian have allowed him to reach a large audience, as well as experiment within the newer digital medium of virtual reality while also diving into the animation motion capture world, teaming with Executive Producers LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s Springhill Entertainment, helming WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE BRIGHTEST, the feature length cinematic story within the cult video game NBA 2K 20, starring Idris Elba, Rosario Dawson, Thomas Middleditch, and Lamorne Morris. Candis’ voice strives to educate his audience about issues and call them to take action.
Candis has directed spots for Amazon, Ford, Honda, Microsoft, Under Armour, Lincoln, and Beats by Dre.
